The Systems and Processes of The Human Body
There are 11 major systems of the human body, which according to kidsconnect.com, "include the circulatory system, the respiratory system, the immune system, the skeletal system, the excretory system, the urinary system, the muscular system, the endocrine system, the digestive system, the nervous system, and the reproductive system." These processes and their functions make up the human body.
The Circulatory system: This system includes the heart, blood, and vessels. Wikipedia.org mentions that the circulatory system "allows for blood to circulate and transport nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones, and blood cells to and from the cells in the body to provide nourishment and help in fighting disease, maintain temperature, and pH, and maintain homeostasis in the human body."
The Respiratory System: This system includes the nose, trachea, and lungs. Research shows the function of the respiratory system is responsible "for taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide." (Zimmermann) The main organ are the lungs.
The Immune System: This system is composed of many types of proteins, cells, organs, and tissues. According to kidshealth.org, the immune system "defends people against germs and microorganisms everyday and in most cases the immune system keeps people healthy and fights infections."
The Skeletal System: This system is made up of many bones, tendons, cartilage and ligaments. It has been known that, "the skeletal system preforms vital functions which includes support, movement, protection, blood cell protection, calcium storage, and endocrine regulation." (Zimmermann)These functions allows us to survive.
The Excretory system: This system is composed of the lungs, large intestine, and kidneys. According to sciencedaily.com, "the excretory system is responsible for the elimination of wastes produced by homeostasis."
The Urinary System: This system is made up of the bladder and kidneys. Innderbody.com states, "the kidneys filter the blood to remove wastes and produce urine. The bladder act as a plumbing system to drain urine from the kidneys, store it, and then release it during urination."
The Muscular System: This system is composed of all the muscles in the human body. According to innerbody.com, "the muscular system is responsible for movement in the human body. The muscles are attached to the bones and make up about half of a person's body weight. Muscles also compose the human organs."
The Endocrine System: Many glands make up the endocrine system. Wikipedia.com says, "that the endocrine system secrete hormones directly into circulatory system to be carried toward distant target organs." The main purpose of this system is to move hormones to organs that need them.
The Digestive System: This system is composed of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, and intestines. Niddk.nih.gov states, "the function of the digestive system is to break down the intake of food so the human body can use the nutrients to survive."
The Nervous System: The nervous system is composed of the brain, nerves, and spinal cord. It has been proven that, "the nervous system is a complex network of nerves and cells that carry messages to and form the brain and spinal cords to various parts of the body. The nervous system is how different parts of the human body communicate."(Mandal)
The Reproductive System: The male and female reproductive organs make up the reproductive system. Research shows, "the reproductive system is a collection of internal organs, in both males and females, that work together for the purpose of procreating, or creating an offspring." (Zimmermann)
